The 4.0L inline-six in TJ Wranglers requires 6 quarts of 10W-30 oil with a standard spin-on filter. The 3.8L V6 in 2007-2011 JK Wranglers also takes 6 quarts of 5W-20 or 5W-30. Chrysler specified 5W-20 for the 3.8L, but many owners switch to 5W-30 for better high-temperature protection.

The 3.6L Pentastar in 2012 and newer JK and JL Wranglers requires 6 quarts of 5W-20 or 5W-30 depending on the model year. Later Pentastar engines specify 0W-20 for improved fuel economy.
